Living the life on the 'White Isle'
25 September 2001 (Entered in Ibiza, Spain )
This was my second visit to Ibiza this year! Earlier in the summer I went over with a few mates for a stag week, that was a totally different type of holiday to the latest visit.
Ibiza is not what you see on Ibizauncovered on TV. There is a lot more to Ibiza than you may think.
Ibiza has some of the best beaches in the Med' cristal clear waters and pure white sand which slopes gently into the sea. Some beaches are extremely difficult to find and can be almost inaccesible, these are the kind of beaches you should try to visit, if you are lucky you may get it all to yourself.
Ibiza town is also worth a visit. Try going in the evening as it's much cooler and all the shops are open late at night. Take a walk along the narrow streets close to the marina, you may bump into a few famous people. Kylie, Robbie Williams, Tom Cruise, Boy George etc are regulars here. You may also notice that Ibiza Town is strewn with glamourous ladies in the evening. NOTE: They are not ladies, this is the transvestite capital of Europe! Most of them are very approachable, ask them if you can take a picture and they will usually be OK about it.
The 'known Side' of Ibiza.
Ibiza is famous/infamous for sex, drugs and clubbing. If you like this kind of thing, make sure you visit as it's a Mecca. You can buy most drugs on the streets of the 'West End' as easlily as buying newspaper and they are legal for personal use!!
Walk 5 mins east from the West End and you are at Eden and EsParadis.
Eden is quite heavy dance music and pretty expensive: Entry 4000pts(£20) Beer 1500pts(£6) Water 2000pts(£8) ermm everyone seems to drink the water !! You can have your hand stamped to allow re-entry, so walk 2 mins to a beach hut and buy a water for 100pts(40p) and go back in!
EsParadis is as it says 'paradise' the prices are approx the same as Eden. The music is a bit lighter and the Fiesta De Agua(water party) starts at 4am, this is when they turn on the water and transform the dancefloor into a swimmingpool. You have to experience this place to beleive it.
There are bigger clubs such as Manumission(privilege) entry:£40 vodka and Redbull:£16 so you probably wont want to go there unless you are a serious clubber!!
Recommendations:
MEI LING - Chinese Restaurant West End of San' An' Town. Superb food & service and you can dine on the balcony which overlooks the waterfront
Play2 - Nightclub - West End of San' An' Town. Free entry, friendly atmosphere, reasonable prices and bang on with the choons :-)
Joe Spoons - Irish theme bar - West End of San' An' Town.
