01 May 2008 Just finished the 'Nuns With Guns' trailer, it should be available on the front page. Done over a couple of weekends, on a budget of $100. Good fun. The EX1 performed well. A bit of fun, completely tongue in cheek trailer. The question is - do you want to see the actual movie at the end??? 18 March 2008 More news. Chocolate script is now complete. Need to begin the process of casting sooner than later. 'Finally' short film was played at Kino Sydney on monday night (www.kinosydney.com) where it went down pretty well. Actually came across as the slickest film of the night I'd say. Anyways it was also St Pats night so I got horrendously drunk afterwards. But that's another story/script. Will be uploading Lemmings and Finally to the website this evening. So the Vimeo migration will be complete Mwaahhh. Anthony Minghella died last night in London. I've enjoyed his films and it's a big surprise. Just watched Michael Clayton last night and had seen his name on the credits as a producer of it. Then check the BBC website to see the news. An acquaintance also died yesterday in a light aircraft crash, there'll be some beers drunk in his honour tonight. What does this mean to me? Well that it's not a dress rehearsal. That's certainly our mantra. I have a pain in my chest from monday and the cigarettes I smoked. When it's sore I don't think 'I hope I don't die of cancer', rather I think 'I hope I don't die before I make my feature'. I think Anthony would agree to get on with it. 24 February 2008 I'm well overdue for an update on this page! Editing has finished on our latest little experiment - Finally. We filmed it over a weekend, before xmas, but have since actually completed the edit and even graded it. Used a few After Effects tricks in it which was fun. Part of the reason for making it was that a:it would be a simple shoot (time has been short for me over the last few months as a result of fatherhood) and b: as an antidote to Lemmings whhich was a very structured and completely indoor shoot. This one was purely hand held, virtually all outdoors and just fun. Big shout to Jak and Sophie for their involvement. We should have it up on lostsheep shortly. The Farmers short is still in pre-production. I'm veering towards making it in the sort of style that all these festivals like, all slick and the like. In a way I feel like I should just to prove I can and then not do it again.. Stinkwater 24 was great fun once again this year. It was a shining ray of light because most of the rest of the Coogee Arts Festival was cursed by the weather this year. It's always been a risk with all these outdoor events but until now we've generally been OK. But not this year. The excellent Shakespeare production was particularly badly hit - it's also the most expensive event to stage. Anyway back to Stinkwater24. It continually amazes me how creative people can be when they put their minds to it. I'm itching to start preparing the DVD of the finalists this year - even now I find myself watching the 2007 finalists in awe. To think all this creativity occurred in the same 24 hour period! And all in Coogee!! Once they're done I'll upload them all for viewing here on lostsheep. And finally the feature! well the script is underway, the story in all mapped out, the characters are there.. the Coogee Arts festival has been a distraction but this is the most important project of 2008 (and 2009 for that matter). I intend to help edit a friend's film and make two more shorts over the next 6 months, at which point we'll be ready to begin the principal filming. Working title as I write is 'Red Mist'. It's going to be a vengance thriller set in modern Sydney. ANd here's a little video of my daughter who will of course be working for bed and board on the movie. 24 February 2008 From Crackle: 06 December 2007 Howdy! OK another LostSheep Film Update. The Farmer film also ended up on the back-burner (though may well rise again in March 2008). Instead we went ahead with filming 'Finally' a two-hander assasin short set in central Sydney. Finishing off shooting of that this coming weekend. I expect it to be ready for the website mid-jan. Plans for a feature film next year are also coming together, beginning with the purchase of a brand spanking new Sony PMW-EX1 video camera in the very near future. It's a fine piece of kit and will be the main camera for the film. Bloody well should be as I'm about to drop $10,000 on the little bastard! We've had great value and work out of the trusty DVX100 but the time has come to move on.. Off to pommieland for a few weeks this coming friday, will be working on the first draft of the film and testing out the new camera. On my return the main focus will be the Coogee Arts Festival Stinkwater 24 film festival (www.stinkwater.com) and prepping for the next film............. laters.. PJ 02 October 2007 Oh yeah, we also won 2nd funniest film at Flake festival for Hook Line and Sinker! LOL!!! 02 October 2007 Some few delays brought on by fatherhood, but back in the saddle now with the 'Farmers Tale' short ready for filming. 'Jury Service' has been postponed - I've spoken to the AGD re Balmain court. It's the right decision. Now to find the right actor for the next short! My first daughter's name is Coco. She has no idea how many starring roles I am already planning for her!! 11 September 2007 Hook Line & Sinker is a finalist in the Flake Film Festival 2007 - Australia's Highest Film Festival! Here's the screening timetable: THURSDAY 6TH SEPT- THREDBO- KOSI ROOM SATURDAY 8TH SEPT- COOMA- THE HUB CENTRE MONDAY 10th SEPT- JINABYNE- JINDABYNE CINEMA TUESDAY 11TH SEPT- PERISHER- SUNDECK HOTEL SATURDAY 15th SEPT- FINAL- JINDABYNE- JINDABYNE CINEMA Stu will be at Jindabyne Cinema on 15th - If you see him, buy him a beer! For more information follow this link: Flake Film Festival 2007 05 September 2007 Whoo hoo! Jury Service is going ahead! Waiting for the paperwork from the AGD but it looks like Balmain court is locked in! Will now need to properly start prepping for this film! I also filmed a young performer called Jessie Hoebeck last wednesday and we may do some more filmig over this APEC weekend to finish her showreel. Plus I'm also just finishing the first draft of my 'walk through the city' script so that should be fun. Hopefully we can film next weekend.. It's all good! I guess everything happens for a reason in the end.. and if you put enough energy into something you can always make it happen! PJ 24 August 2007 Actionfest was a bit of a disappointment last night, in it's organisation and judging but hey I frankly don't give a fuck. Jury Service short is coming along nicely now, we have a new date for filming of the 3-4th November, have found an AWESOME court. I can't believe I wasted so much time trying to get UTS or UWS to come to the party - then try to charge me a rate about 10x higher than to use a REAL court. You have to laugh! LOL. Doing a new draft of the shooting script this weekend, probably tomorrow. 24 August 2007 Lemmings Short Film qualifies for ACTIONFEST 2007! After the cast and crew screening last week I did feel a good vibe. I will be posting the film soon, in the meantime you can come along on 24th August to the Paddington RSL and watch the finalists. More information here.. $13K in prizes? The Court Short project is starting to make me pull my hair out... but never say never. Still planning to film the next short in September.. 24 August 2007 I have decided to make ISO images of all LostSheep Films available for download. This means anyone will be able to burn and watch our shorts in the best possible quality. We will of course still have YouTube and Revver versions available for those with no patience who enjoy watching things in low resolution. More info on LostSheep Films can be found here. The ISO page will be created shortly. www.sheepdiaries.com |
